Defining Who Will Be Paying
Part 2 of our series discussing debt collection strategies for funeral directors.
It can be an emotional roller coaster for someone arranging a funeral, as they are often closely related to the deceased and may well still be suffering from bereavement.
Thankfully, most funeral directors are highly skilled in dealing with such arrangers and employing the utmost forbearance and diplomacy. It is, however, still very important to cover the issue of costs and who will be paying.
It may be that the price list has already been considered or agreed. The funds might be coming via a funeral service insurance plan or a solicitor, or the final invoice may be settled by someone who is the anticipated benefactor of a will or probate. In all cases, it is important to ensure that costs are agreed and payment terms are approved to ensure that the debt collection problems are kept to a minimum.
We, here at Town and Country Legal Services LLP, act for many funeral directors and have done for many years.
